Abstract
Background &urpose : The purpose of this study is to explore the satisfaction of nurse¡¯s about the changed job process after introducing the Ward Order Communication System. It also aims to improve the quality of nursing care and to offer basic data for the efficient computerization of nursing practices in the hospital.

Methods : The study subjects are 215 nurses who are working at a hospital which has acquired the OCS. The data were analyzed using frequency analysis, paired t-test, and ANOVA.

Results : As for the benefits of the OCS, 89.3% of the subjects liked the job-related speediness and convenience. 12.1% chose the quality of nursing care. The change of the nurse¡¯s job process after the introduction of the OCS showed statistically meaningful difference in 20 items, but in relation to the discharge records and the use of the cardex files, the difference was insignificant. Among the 10 categories, the nurse¡¯s satisfaction scored the highest point 3.82 in the area of supplies. The average satisfaction score was 3.51. The lowest job area was outpatient reservation 2.15.

Conclusion : The introduction of the OCS has improved speed, convenience and correctness in the nurse¡¯s job process but, as for the quality of nursing practice, the subjects showed low satisfaction. This means that the OCS has become an essential part to the ward job processing and also that the computerization of nursing information should be based on nursing Practices to help the nurses provide better direct nursing care.
